"There is an undeniable sense of purpose knowing the programs I develop directly contribute to more inclusive, respectful environments."
I started my federal career processing pension claims. Serving injured veterans and federal employees was extremely fulfilling, but when I had the chance to transition into a training and leadership development role at the Department of Labor, I jumped at the opportunity.
As part of the human resources team, I focus on creating, facilitating, and managing training offerings to employees. One of my core training programs is Respectful, Inclusive, and Safe Environments (RISE). At its core, this comprehensive series of DEIA training encompasses a broad range of topics that help employees cultivate and co-create a respectful, safe, and inclusive workplace.
Witnessing my colleagues' growth and development through these training sessions is tremendously rewarding. My Dad was also a civil servant, and he deeply valued the positive impact government work can have on people's lives. That motivation to create meaningful change for others is something I carry with me. There is an undeniable sense of purpose knowing the programs I develop directly contribute to more inclusive, respectful environments.
I'm grateful to collaborate with passionate colleagues who share my drive for enabling professional growth. We continuously explore innovative ways to uplift and empower our workforce. Those moments when training participants have powerful realizations or breakthroughs - that is the highlight for me. Knowing I played a role in helping individuals thrive professionally is immensely gratifying.
