"Diverse skill sets, coming together, allow government to work well."
I am a licensed public sector Architect and LEED Accredited Professional based in New York City.
I specialize in building energy efficiency and green building technical standards. Working in city government has given me the opportunity to work on sustainable design review of projects, assessment and development of technical standards and energy code compliance. I previously served as a building energy code official and am now working on green school projects.
In my first summer after college, I participated in an internship where I worked on a public project and enjoyed the diverse collaboration between all the various consultants involved. It was then that I gained my first taste of the policy and advocacy that are inherent in government projects. I remained in the public sector and continue to enjoy working on large scale projects that allow me to make an impact on my community through efficient building design and sustainability policy. I also enjoy working with colleagues from different backgrounds. Government agencies rely on interdisciplinary skill sets in order to function well as an arm of local government.
