I have always had a passion for information and people, and public service has offered me a chance to marry the two – ensuring that the right information gets to the right people. A lack of knowledge, and information dissemination, among historically underserved communities, certainly contributes to their marginalization. It is my purpose to bridge the gap between people and information at every opportunity, so that they know what programs and benefits are available to them.

My passion for information and people was instilled by my parents and extended family. They mostly worked in education and believed strongly in the power of knowledge. They encouraged my voracious love of reading and seeking by taking me to the library in the summers when I was unable to check out books at school. They also took me to church, which augmented my love for people and my desire to serve. I learned at an early age that love is a verb requiring action to prove its truth. I believe my natural propensity for both people and knowledge are innate to me, but the loving guidance of my family certainly solidified both as a mainstay in my life.

As Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the Commissioner Representing Employers at the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), I help facilitate programs and events that benefit employers and businesses throughout Texas. My current role as manager of the Texas Conference for Employers is enhanced by past roles, where I had the opportunity to host numerous beneficial programs ranging from first time homebuyer education classes to financial literacy classes.

My agency and its leaders have given me the latitude to create bold and purposeful events that augment careers, relationships, and lives. Our lives are enriched through new ideas, best practices, and innovation.  Having the opportunity to create programs that draw people to information exchange has been the highlight of my public service career.
