I have always had a strong desire to be part of ensuring justice is done throughout our societal systems and institutions.

When I say that, I am referring to justice in its truest form: equity, fair treatment, and equal opportunity for all people. I truly believe that the government is our best mechanism for meeting people’s most fundamental needs, caring for one another, and creating the just society we all wish to live in. Recognizing that and truly believing in the ideal of what government can do and be is what inspired me to leave the private sector and jump into public service, a leap of faith.

I currently serve on HUD's nascent Customer Experience team, helping to stand up the program and work with offices all across the Department to bridge the gap between the public's needs and the government's design and delivery of its services. In this role, I have found the perfect fit of problem-solving and innovating on issues and programs that have significant social and economic impacts. Too often, the government appears to be a black box from the outside – imposing, confusing, and inaccessible – while on the inside, there is a disconnect from the public and their experiences. In this role, I have been proud to bring customers’ stories and experiences to the forefront to inform and shape the design and delivery of programs, policies, and services. Stories change hearts, hearts change minds, and minds change systems. Nothing inspires me more than getting to watch and help facilitate the transformation of how the government delivers on its promises – becoming more of a government “for the people, by the people.”
