"Using technology to measure progress towards public health outcomes."

I was inspired to serve the public from a young age.

I grew up in an economically disadvantaged area and my father lost his career when he was involved in the PATCO strike in the early 1980s. I've seen firsthand the impact that government decisions and actions can have on individuals, families, and communities. Seeing that impact led me to pursue roles in government that would allow me to work toward ensuring equitable outcomes and protecting the rights of workers and our citizenry.

I served for 20 years as a Commissioned Officer in the United States Navy right out of college. Today, I am a Presidential Innovation Fellow (PIF). The PIF program brings together technologists from across industry who have a desire to serve and puts them in positions of great impact. Currently detailed to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), I am leading Technology Implementation and Delivery supporting the CDC Data Modernization Initiative. In this role I am focused on driving the adoption of collaborative tools and services across the agency, understanding how we efficiently deliver capability to meet our technology requirements, and well as ensuring we can measure progress towards public health outcomes. I also provide part-time support to Data Team within the the Office of Management and Budget’s (OMB) Office of the Federal Chief Information Officer (OFCIO) where I help move forward policy initiatives related to data and AI.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of my journey in public service has been in the quality of the people I have met along the way. There are so many people in public service with a true passion for improving the lives of others, working through difficult problems on a daily basis with little or no recognition, and their drive for making our lives better is demonstrated through their attitudes and interactions. Simply being around so many exceptional and selfless public servants helps energize my mind and focus my efforts, and seeing such dedication to others is a great source of comfort and hope which drives me forward every day.
