"I inspired by the people that I work with who give so much of themselves to help others."
"I am a wife, mom, and grandma and a Guam-licensed, U.S. Certified Public Accountant with almost three decades of accounting and management experience."
I am the Director of the Guam Department of Revenue and Taxation. To be honest, when I started in this position, I really didn't know what to expect. I had always worked in the private sector and didn't have an understanding of the challenges that come with public service. However, I am regularly inspired by the many people that I work with who give so much of themselves to help others.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, my team has been working hard to help stand up our economy so that our community can live and thrive. I remember working on Mother's Day 2020 with other moms to get the first Economic Impact Payments processed for our people. In September 2021,we stood up the All RISE Program where we received about 21,000 applications in a single day (with approximately 17,000 of those applications being received online) and processed the first payments within 10 days. We have processed and paid income tax refunds within weeks so that we could get money to our people as quickly as possible. The heart of my team and their desire to serve inspires me. Working together, my team has been able to achieve things that had never been achieved before by our government. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with my team to contribute to making our island and our world a better place.
