In college, I studied urban geography and how humans impact the environment around them.
I really wanted to make a positive difference and thought I could have the biggest impact on the local level. I started by working for a small town doing many different things. Nearly 20 years in, I still love working on special projects that have a direct impact on local residents. While I’ve worked on many projects during that time, I really love the ones that have an immediate positive impact.
I am the Innovation Team Lead for Salt Lake City. Innovation in government can mean a lot of things. My team specifically uses local government best practices to tackle issues facing Salt Lake City. We’ve provided everything from free wi-fi and charging stations in public parks all the way to implementing a new ERP software to modernize HR and Finance functions.
