"Service before self.”

I joined public service for the opportunity to live out my belief of "service before self” and to change the misconceptions about what service leadership means.

I believe the heart of leadership, especially in the public service, is intention. I wanted to serve with intention in my formal work at the FDIC and with the organizations I volunteer with, so that others can feel confident that there are people who care and are committed to the oath we take as public servants.

I am a graduate student pursuing my Master of Science degree in IT Management and Cybersecurity from Colorado State University's Global campus. I currently serve the FDIC as a member of the Corporate Business Application Services Section (CBASS) in the Division of Information Technology's Application Platform Delivery Branch (APDB). I am a member of the application operations team and I’m learning the ins and outs of human resources, financial and learning management systems at FDIC.

Public service has given me opportunities to serve as a volunteer and mentor to many underrepresented and underserved communities Nationwide. I have fun teaching FDIC's MoneySmart Financial Literacy courses with my ERG The Association of African American Professionals (A3P), as well as contributing to S.T.E.A.M. initiatives. I believe it is my obligation to give back and pour into others, just as others have done for me. Empowering youth and young adults to not only pursue their individual passions, but also serve their Country as their authentic selves is something I am honored to do. Sometimes a little encouragement and support is all we need to get to where we want to go.
