Growing up I always wanted to serve, and specifically in public safety.

,Everywhere you look in life and on TV you see 9-1-1, police, and fire responders doing amazing work and helping people. When I started volunteering in high school with the local fire department as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), I quickly realized this was the line of work for me. Shortly after graduating, I began my current career with Prince George’s County. I started out as a 9-1-1 Call-Taker before becoming a Fire/EMS Dispatcher and then eventually moving on to join the agency’s technology division. Today, I am the Division Manager of the technical services division at the county’s Office of Homeland Security/Public Safety Communications.

My team supports all the technology in the County’s 9-1-1 center as well as numerous county-wide public safety projects and programs. We have the difficult task of making sure these critical systems are functioning 24/7, allowing our Call Takers and Dispatchers to do the important work they do. Being able to support the teams providing critical front-line service to our citizens is extremely rewarding. My team can take complex operational problems and provide technology solutions for them. In today’s environment technology is central to everything we do as an agency. As technology and the 9-1-1 industry evolves, we are able to start providing enhancements to the way emergencies are addressed through recent advances like Text-to-911, Next-Generation 9-1-1, and our on-line self-service dispatch request portal for non-emergency calls.
