"I feel privileged to have met people who give their time and energy toward making this world a better place for others."
I am a veteran of the United States Navy and am proud to have served my country.
After I got out of the Navy, I used my G.I. Bill to go to college for Recreation and Park Administration because I wanted to continue to use my talents and education to benefit the public. Today, I work for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) as an Education Technician at the National Eagle and Wildlife Property Repository.
As an out and proud transgender man, I am a leader in the Transgender Team subcommittee for the FWS Pride Employee resource group. In 2019, I was the first USFWS employee to gain official permission to march in a sanctioned Pride event wearing an official USFWS uniform. I have had the privilege to serve on several panels and live events, for both department- and government-wide viewing, which focused on educating our workforce around LGBTQ+ issues.
I also co-founded the Gender Expansive and Transgender Working Group (G.E.T. group), an interagency group which connects gender expansive and transgender employees and our allies across all federal agencies and offices to form a community of support and a unified network working toward equality in the federal workplace. I am very proud of the G.E.T. group and all the work we have done to make the federal workplace a safer, more equitable space for G.E.T. identifying people, and how that work has also positively impacted many other marginalized employees. Most of all, I feel privileged to have met all the wonderful people on this journey who give their time and energy toward making this world a better place for others.
