I have spent my entire career in the nonprofit sector, so the move to public service was a shift.

I was encouraged by the leadership and vision of Governor Cox to work across party lines and collaborate among stakeholders statewide to build bridges and find agreement. I strongly believe in the role of government in bringing together the public and private sectors to address critical needs and opportunities to build thriving communities. This vision inspired me to bring my skills and experience to work in public service to serve New Americans (anyone who is foreign-born, like refugees and immigrants) in Utah who are striving to achieve the same dream my family did.

I am the Director of Immigration & New American Integration in the Utah Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity. This is an inaugural position that is part of the national network of Offices of New Americans, designed to bring policy, strategy, and resources to the state to support economic opportunity for Utah's immigrant communities and businesses. I have the privilege of working side by side with stakeholders around the state to listen, learn and bring forward recommendations that address the most pressing concerns New Americans face in the state of Utah. I’ve engaged with stakeholders around Utah to learn more about the communities and their commitment to becoming more welcoming to New Americans in Utah.  As a child of immigrants, I have experienced the trials and tribulations that come with striving for a dream of safety and prosperity for their families. This position allows me to serve in a space where I am deeply connected.
