"Small businesses are and will continue to be the backbone of America."
I began my wonderful career working for the Federal Government as an intern while attending Virginia State University.
I have held various positions in Contracting within the Department of Defense and civilian agencies for over 23 years. I currently serve as a Director of Acquisition Policy within the Office of Small Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). I serve as an advocate for the small business community in proposing, interpreting, and providing training on legislation and regulations within the HHS acquisition workforce. I advise the acquisition workforce on how to use small business programs and maximize federal procurement opportunities for small businesses.
I feel the most fulfillment attending conferences and workshops to advise and educate small businesses on how to navigate doing businesses with the Federal Government. Small businesses are and will continue to be the backbone of America and it's a pleasure to play a role in their success. The success of my job is measured by the overall growth and performance of the small businesses. There's nothing greater than hearing from a small business that has won their first Federal contract.
