"Living out my childhood dreams."
As a little girl, I was a big fan of the show “Good Times” and the character Michael who wanted to be a lawyer who would change the world.
At a young age I was inspired by the show and even though I had never met a lawyer, I knew I would be just that one day. Civics was my favorite class in high school. By the time I got to law school, I knew I wanted to be a government lawyer and a true public servant working to ensure government services are provided equitably. I am s.
I am a Senior Executive Service (SES) member at the U.S. Government Accountability Office. In my current role as Managing Associate General Counsel, I have leadership responsibility for GAO’s legal teams providing advice and issuing formal decisions to Congress and executive branch agencies on the use of federal appropriations and other legal matters.
I am the first African American female in my agency’s hundred-year history to serve in this role. I am simultaneously serving as the National President of Blacks In Government, an organization dedicated to providing training opportunities and enhancing DEIA across the government. BIG’s focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility aligns with the goals I have long held. Using my talents and abilities to lead this organization and open doors for others is a great honor for me.
