Within 3 months of taking office, Governor Shapiro issued an Executive Order to create and found the Commonwealth's first digital services team – Commonwealth Office of Digital Experience Pennsylvania (CODE PA).
Our mission at CODE PA is to help Pennsylvanians connect to state agencies and services in effective and innovative ways. Our CODE PA team is already at 7 people and growing every day. I am the Director of Digital Strategy, where I work with a team to manage online communications, digital partnerships, technology policy, and digital services. Most days, we are creating content, filming with the Governor, exploring partnership opportunities between the Governor and influencers on social media, and working to upgrade and modernize our digital services for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The team is amazing! They come up with big ideas and execute them beyond my wildest dreams or expectations. They are going to make a huge impact on our Commonwealth.
The Governor recognizes that where people receive and process their news is changing, the messengers they trust are changing, and the way they interact with their government is revolutionizing. As a result, they should be able to access government services as easily as they can access services in the private sector — from their phone, online, and quickly and efficiently. We are lucky to work for a Governor who believes in funding and encouraging civic tech.
