Calvert Smith

I am currently a Director of Cloud Adoption for the IT Modernization Centers of Excellence (CoE) within General Services Administration, Technology Transformation Services.  In the almost 4 years that I have been with the CoE I have had the privilege of supporting some amazing federal agencies in their efforts to provide better services to our citizens. One of the things that I love about working at the CoE is the use of human-centered design to identify the needs of not only key stakeholders, but the people that use government services. We put people first!

One of the highlights of my journey in public service is being able to give back to our younger professionals. Before joining the federal government, I spent 23 years working with and in county government in Prince George’s County, Maryland. While there, I was able to work with high school and early college students through our summer youth programs. I worked with some amazing young professionals on implementing innovative ideas to improve government services while helping them build valuable soft skills and technical competencies that they could take into college and the workforce. There is no greater feeling than seeing and being a part of the growth and confidence that is gained by mentoring our young professionals so that they can learn from our experiences and position them for success.
