I started my career in public service in the U.S. Army as a computer specialist.

Upon the end of my enlistment, I secured a job as a help desk technician as a contractor for the central help desk at the Department of State. Within two years, I switched over to a government position and, over time, began moving into more senior positions within the organization, working with new technologies while helping enable the mission for those we supported. In 2019, I was proud to become a member of the Senior Executive Service – something I never would have imagined after leaving the Army and beginning my career as a help desk tech. Today, I am the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the International Trade Administration (ITA) at the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC). In my role, I am responsible for all aspects of Information Technology to help support and enable the agency’s mission, which is to strengthen the international competitiveness of U.S. industry, promote trade and investment, and ensure fair trade and compliance with trade laws.

Working in government has given me the opportunity to work with a great cadre of government employees and contractors. There are many I’ve worked with over the years whom I still keep in touch with as mentors, advisors, and friends. It has been an honor to work alongside so many great public servants as we seek to carry out the missions of our agencies. That sense of supporting a very important mission has always been very fulfilling to me, and I continue to enjoy finding ways in which to do so in my current role today and serving my country at the same time.
