"Through mentorship and volunteering, I strive to guide and inspire future leaders."
My journey into public service began unexpectedly.
In 2001, I wrote a letter to President Bill Clinton, who had just left office. I expressed admiration for how his ascent from humble beginnings in rural Arkansas embodied the American Dream: proving that wealth or political pedigree wasn't necessary to lead. Though I never anticipated a response, three months later, President Clinton surprised me with an offer to intern for him.
Currently, I serve as the Director of Procurement at The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Over the past two decades, my public service career has been deeply fulfilling, brimming with significant responsibilities and opportunities to positively impact the region. I've spearheaded innovative projects across New York and New Jersey, resulting in new terminals at our airports, the introduction of new railcars, and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies to advance sustainability in our facilities. These endeavors not only create jobs and support small, veteran, minority, and women-owned businesses but also promise lasting benefits for generations.
Working alongside the former President illuminated the potential of dedicated public servants and sparked my passion for government work. Today, I take pride in mentoring others and organizing events to encourage them to explore careers in public service. Through mentorship and volunteering, I strive to guide and inspire future leaders. I firmly believe that the call to public service resonates within each of us; we just need to listen for it.
