"Serving with gratitude."

I joined the federal government later in my career after working for the private sector, non-profit, and state government organizations.

I’m currently the Deputy Director for the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Interior Business Center (IBC). I serve as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Risk Officer to ensure effective planning and management of IBC services, operations, and resources. Here at IBC, we provide common government-wide services to agencies, which allow them to focus on their core mission. Over the course of my career, I found my niche: helping my customers to “do more with less.” My work has centered on supporting initiatives for efficiency and cost savings, enabling clients to accomplish more through efficient use of their budget.

In my time as a public servant, I’ve learned that federal government employees are truly special in the work they do to support the public and the American people. The best part of my work week is recognizing team members or colleagues for their extraordinary customer service, leadership or innovation as a civil servant.  While many of them would say they are just doing their job, the truth is that their impact is significant.  Oftentimes, customers will tell me about a team member who made their experience exceptional and I take that opportunity to personally thank the colleague or send a handwritten note of appreciation. Our IBC employees are at the heart of the services we provide to our customers.  As our employees feel appreciated, engaged, and valued, they in turn want to give the best service to our customers.
