I find so much intrinsic value in public service because my work has meaning. At the end of each day, I can see how my job positively affects people, not just in my local community but nationally too. Being a public servant feels like a privilege and it gives me the opportunity to have a job that is both worthwhile and impactful.

Currently, I work for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) bringing enforcement action against those who defraud programs that were meant to benefit low-income families and individuals with special needs. I previously worked for the U.S. Government Accountability Office, where I served in two roles: assisting Congress in determining the propriety of federal spending and helping the Department of Defense to improve its policies to be more effective in meeting the department’s goals.

By far, the highlight of my career has been the people I work with. In both the legislative and executive branches, I have met people who truly care about the work they do and the communities they serve. Even more so, they care deeply about their colleagues. I have been incredibly lucky to experience office environments that support their employees and espouse values of integrity, fairness, and objectivity. I believe public service attracts people who are considerate, compassionate, and enthusiastic about helping others. Because of my colleagues, I actually look forward to Mondays!
